Last month, we celebrated the long-anticipated return of the Funicular Railway and were really pleased to be able to welcome clients of Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) on reopening day.
DSUK have been operating on Cairngorm Mountain for over 40 years, providing world-class adaptive snowsports experiences for individuals with a wide range of support needs.
Helping to facilitate these experiences is something the team at Cairngorm Mountain are very proud of and to offer Samuel the opportunity to be one of the first few people to travel on the Funicular and enjoy a day on the slopes of the Ptarmigan bowl meant a great deal to us.
Adaptive instructor Ross Dunn says,
“Whilst it has been a challenging winter in terms of snowfall, we have continued to provide adaptive sessions no matter what the weather, but the upper access makes a major difference, especially for members who are unable to walk to the higher access areas otherwise.”
Though we experienced a period of mild weather that limited terrain, winter seems to have returned to the Cairngorms and we are pleased to be able to offer snowsports again on the slopes of the Ptarmigan bowl.
We look forward continuing our partnership with DSUK and developing Cairngorm Mountain as a hub for adaptative snowsports.
