New Cairngorm Mountain Carting

We are delighted to announce this summer will see the launch of our new mountain carting experience at Cairngorm Mountain.

Ideal for both adults and teenagers, the new experience will run throughout the school holidays and on weekends from the summer season, bringing adrenaline-fuelled downhill rides of 1.9km. The carting will open on Friday 28 June 2024.

The first ride of its kind in Scotland, the mountain carting experience will be led by an experienced guide with two sessions daily throughout the season.  Suitable for those aged 14 or over, the sessions will include an exciting ride to the top of the trail in the back of an off-road ‘Unimog’ vehicle, offering views at over 900 metres above sea level before the thrill of the downhill challenge begins.

The mountain carting trail twists and turns through 1.9km, heading downhill to finish back at the base station.  Riders will be given equipment and training, with the whole session guided by experts and lasting around 45 minutes.

CEO of CMSL, Susan Smith, commented: “Our exciting new mountain carting adds another adrenaline-fuelled experience to our summer offering – visitors are really going to love it!  This is just one of a number of great new plans in the pipeline for the resort, with an exciting and major expansion of our play park coming later in the summer.”

Owned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and operated by the Cairngorm Mountain team, the resort is one of Scotland’s iconic locations attracting visitors of all ages and abilities in every season of the year. With environmental rangers who oversee the protection of the site and can offer insights into its unique nature, visitors can learn about the Cairngorms and Scotland’s mountain environment.

The Mountain Carting experience is suitable for those aged 14 and over and is available in two sessions per day at £25 per person per session. 

Other activities on offer at Cairngorm Mountain include the popular tubing slides, mountain biking trails, a mountain garden and guided walks. 

After a day of activities the Cairngorm Café balcony is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the views down to Loch Morlich whilst enjoying a cold drink, local beer and lunch.
