Management Update | Winter Plans

October 27th, 2021.

After an amazing summer, and what has been a busy autumn season we are looking forward to the return of some colder weather here at Cairngorm Mountain.

With winter approaching, as with previous years, we will be closing all facilities from Monday 1 November 2021 to allow our team to complete annual maintenance and prepare the resort for what we hope will be a snowsports season for the books.

The Adventure Play & Tubing Park will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday over the Halloween weekend before closing to the public on Monday. We will assess whether it will be possible to run the slides during the winter months, this will be heavily dependent on snow and weather conditions so please keep an eye out on our website and social media platforms for further updates.

Also, in line with the provisions of our Visitor Management Plan the stopover facilities at the Cairngorm Campervan Site will close until April 2022. Parking at the Coire na Ciste will still be permitted throughout the winter as normal however, the water feeds, chemical waste and refuse disposal will be unavailable. We want to thank all of those who have stayed with us during this initial trial period and greatly appreciate all the feedback that has been given. It has been vital in allowing us to improve the visitor experience at the site and we can’t wait to welcome back campervan and motorhome users next year.

The Day Lodge, Cairngorm Café and Mountain Shop will reopen to visitors from Monday 6 December 2021.

The snowsports season will kick-off with our ‘Winter Launch’ on Friday 17 December 2021. What terrain and uplift we will be able to open is highly dependent on natural snow fall. However, we will be utilising our technical snow making infrastructure to offer snowsports in the ‘Lower Snow Zone’ until cover allows access to the upper slopes.

New for winter 2021/22 will be the ability to purchase lift passes and equipment rental online, in advance of your visit through our Skiperformance web shop. This exciting new development will significantly reduce queuing in the ticket office and ski hire during busy periods allowing us to get you out and enjoying the slopes as quickly as possible.

Thank you to everyone who has visited us so far this year. It has been a challenging time for all, and we look forward to what the winter will bring for Cairngorm Mountain.
