The hottest weekend of the year so far and at CairnGorm Mountain, where temperatures at the top reached 20C today (Saturday), snow sports enthusiasts were flocking to the high tops in their shorts , t – shirts and kilts to enjoy the unseasonal temperatures out on the ski slopes.

235 skiers and snowboarders set a world record today, Saturday 6th March for the largest number of kilted skiers/snowboarders skiing down a piste at once today on the slopes of CairnGorm Mountain. All participants paid an entry fee of £5 to take part and all the funds will be split between Maggie’s Highland and the Badenoch & Strathspey Schools Skiing Programme.
CairnGorm Mountain is attempting to set a world record for the largest number of kilted skiers/snowboarders skiing down a piste at once. The attempt will take place on Saturday 6th March at 11am and all money raised will be split between Maggie’s Highland and the Badenoch & Strathspey Schools Skiing Programme.
We are aiming to have 600 kilted skiers and snowboarders ski in a single consecutive line from the Ptarmigan Top Station at CairnGorm Mountain all the way down to car park level.
For Kelly and Paul Bray the dreams of a real White Wedding came true today (Saturday 30th Jan) on the slopes at CairnGorm Mountain. Following an official ceremony at Alvie Church at 11am the couple came straight up to CairnGorm at took to the ski slopes where they were cheered on by thousands of well wishers.
Following a three year build programme, Robert Livingston, Director of Hi Arts officially opened the landscape features at CairnGormMountain on Friday 23rd October. Cairn Gorm : Reading A Landscape is a series of three site-specific artworks developed by a team based at the University of Dundee, led by artist, Arthur Watson.
2nd North Atlantic Ski Areas Association Conference comes to Aviemore
Ski Area representatives and industry suppliers from seven nations will be gathering in Aviemore early next week to share knowledge and experience of running ski areas in the Northern latitudes. The two day conference is being hosted by the Association of Scottish Ski Areas – ASSA, (CairnGorm, Glencoe, Glenshee, Lecht and NevisRange) and delegates will be hosted by CairnGormMountain on Monday 7th and NevisRange on Tuesday 8th September finishing with a visit to the braeheadSnowdome on Wednesday 9th.

To celebrate the release of this stunning album Cairngorm will be performed in the Ptarmigan venue at the top of Cairngorm, with Mhairi on grand piano, Fraser Stone on drums and percussion, and Michael Bryan on acoustic guitar. The music, which is from the Cairngorm area was recorded in the beautiful space of Crear, Argyll in February 2009 and is produced by Dónal Lunny.

New Non-executive Board Appointments at CairnGorm Mountain Ltd
Following the transfer of ownership in May 2008 of CairnGorm Mountain Ltd to Highlands & Islands Enterprise three new non-executive Board appointments have been confirmed: Mr Keith Armstrong (Edinburgh), Mr Stewart Macintyre (Aviemore) and Major General The Hon Seymour MonroCBE (Moray). Together with existing non-executive Director Tim Whittome (Inverness), executive Directors Sandra Murray and Ian Whitakerand Chairman Grenville Johnston, the new CairnGorm Mountain Ltd Board is now complete.
